JFIF Image Format JFIF Converter
The JPEG File Interchange Format (JFIF for short) is a graphical format used to transmit and store digital images. First developed in 1991 it acts as container for the JPEG compression algorithm. The terms "JFIF" and "JPEG" are often used interchangeably to refer to JPG images, but in practice JPEG is a compression algorithm, while JFIF is a file format that uses this algorithm. Files themselves may have either a .jfif or a .jpg extension.
JFIF files are often used on the web for photos and are widely supported in almost all web browsers and image editing software. JFIF supports lossy compression which can result in a loss of quality for images. In general, JFIF is better suited for use with photos rather than images with text, sharp edges or line art, as those images can appear blurry or pixelated after compression.

ICO Image Format
ICO is the name of the format used for icons on Windows, such as the paintbrush and palette used for MS Paint, the tab file image for folders on File Explorer, or the different-coloured ‘W’, ‘X’, ‘P’, ‘O’ and ‘A’ logo icons used for Microsoft Office apps and files. The ICO format was developed by Microsoft especially for Windows. It’s not possible to associate an image with an app or file on a Windows device without using an ICO image.
ICO files contain one or more 2D ‘raster’ images – usually in different sizes so that they can be scaled appropriately as needed. The images are normally a lot smaller than most standard image files. You can use certain image editors and drawing programs to create ICO files from JPG or PNG files, or you can create the icons from scratch. Microsoft Paint, Adobe Photoshop and Preview for Mac can all be used to create ICO files. You can also use these programs to open and view ICO files.
